August is back to school month at Child’s Voice! Our staff will spend 2 days filled with information, training, team building, and some fun sprinkled in before the students come back. I am so excited to see how our kids have grown over the summer and hear about their adventures.
To me, this time of year feels like even more like a fresh start as opposed to the actual New Year’s Eve in December. I am not big on giving myself resolutions but I do like to spend some time setting intentions. Resolutions tend not to stick for me and then I feel like I failed at something. Intentions, on the other hand, are like hopes and dreams, which do not have a definite ending. Setting intentions means shaping the dreams in your mind into tangible goals and actions. So, here are some ideas for you to set some intentions for the upcoming school year for yourself, your child, your family member, or friend. These are things we also aim to teach our students so we are giving young children with hearing loss the tools they need for a successful life journey:
1. Dream Big, Aim High:
Imagine your wildest dreams for this school year. What sparks your curiosity? What ignites your passion? Dare to dream big, and let your aspirations soar like a majestic eagle in the sky. Whether it’s excelling in a favorite subject, making new friends, or exploring extracurricular activities, believe in yourself, and remember, the sky’s the limit.
2. Embrace Growth Mindset:
As you set your intentions, remember that it’s not just about the destination; it’s also about the journey. Embrace the power of a growth mindset. View challenges as opportunities to learn and improve. Each step, no matter how small, is progress. Celebrate your successes, and when you stumble, let it be a stepping stone towards greater resilience.
3. Spread Kindness and Positivity:
Our journey isn’t just about personal growth; it’s about making a positive impact on those around us. Let’s create a school community where kindness blooms like colorful flowers in a garden. Be a beacon of positivity, supporting and encouraging your fellow sailors. A small act of kindness can create ripples of joy that reach far beyond the horizon.
4. Stay Curious and Open-Minded:
In our voyage of intentions, curiosity is the North Star that guides us to new horizons. Embrace curiosity and open your mind to new ideas, perspectives, and cultures. Be an eager learner, for the more we learn, the more we realize how vast and exciting the world is.
5. Anchor Yourself in Resilience:
Storms may brew, and challenges may arise, but we are resilient people. Hold fast to your intentions, and remember that setbacks are temporary. Your determination and perseverance will anchor you, keeping you steady even in the face of rough times.
I wish everyone all the best for the start of this particular journey that we share at Child’s Voice and in your daily lives.
Best,
Wendy
