Week of the Young Child – April 24-28, 2017

Week of the Young Child

This week, Child’s Voice and organizations nation-wide are celebrating The Week of the Young Child!  Since 1971, it has been an annual celebration hosted by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) celebrating early learning, young children, their teachers and families.  This week we will reflect on how early childhood years (birth through age 8) lay the groundwork for children’s success in school and later life.   Each day of the week is themed with a variety of ways to celebrate and learn.  We found this list on the NAEYC website and wanted to share some ideas on how you can celebrate with the young children in your family.

April 24:  Music Monday – Sing, dance, celebrate, and learn cz-lekarna.com/.  Through music, children develop math, language, and literacy skills!

April 25:  Tasty Tuesday – Healthy eating and fitness at home and school. Cooking together connects math with literacy skills, science, and more. With the rise in childhood obesity, you can encourage healthy nutrition and fitness habits at home and in the classroom

April 26:  Work Together Wednesday – Work together, build together, learn together. When children build together they explore math and science concepts and develop their social and early literacy skills.

April 27:  Artsy Thursday – Think, problem solve, create. Children develop creativity, social skills and fine motor skills with open-ended art projects where they can make choices, use their imaginations, and create with their hands.

April 28:  Family Friday – Sharing family stories. Engaging and celebrating families is at the heart of supporting our youngest learners.
