Words From Wendy: Taking time to Celebrate

by Wendy Deters, Executive Director

The Child’s Voice Team wishes everyone a happy and healthy holiday season for all who celebrate. Our staff had a wonderful winter party filled with treats and games. It was lovely to take a break and just enjoy each other’s company.

The school students are preparing for their Winter Festival performance by learning songs and even a short play! The babies and toddlers are working on learning winter and holiday vocabulary words and themes. Our leadership team and support teams are busy as always keeping things running smoothly. We are also working with the Child’s Voice Board of Directors to craft our next strategic plan which will start this summer.

Winter brings fantastic opportunities for listening and language stimulation for young children. Here are some activities that can spark leaning at home. Here are some examples:

  • Listening to and singing holiday music and songs
  • Baking cookies and other treats
  • Talking about all of the winter clothing we are wearing
  • Describing decorations you see in your neighborhood
  • Talking about the changes in weather
  • Practicing a New Year’s countdown

I hope everyone has some time to play and relax at home in the next few weeks. Child’s Voice will be closed from 1:30 PM on December 22 through January 7 and will welcome everyone back on January 8. I know that the Child’s Voice staff and families will be taking a nice break so that we can all be ready to come back refreshed in 2024. I can’t wait to see the progress our children make next year.

Thank you for your continued support of Child’s Voice. I am grateful for this amazing community!
