Child’s Voice is back in session! For many of our families, this is a time to celebrate new beginnings, reconnect with friends, and embrace the opportunities that come with a new academic year. However, for parents and caregivers of children with hearing loss, this season may bring additional concerns and considerations.
At Child’s Voice we understand the unique challenges faced by children with hearing loss as they navigate their environments. Our mission is to empower these children and families with the tools, resources, and support they need to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
One of our top priorities is to advocate for inclusive learning environments where every child can succeed. Our Alumni Relations Coordinator, Carrie Jackiewicz, continues her observations in the public schools so that we can learn and continue to grow while supporting our graduates. We have made some modifications to our P1 and P2 programs to accommodate for individual learning and developmental needs so that all children have what they need to be successful in school.
Beyond academics, we know that school is a place where children develop crucial social skills and form lasting friendships. For children with hearing loss, social interactions can sometimes be challenging, leading to feelings of isolation or frustration. We are committed to helping these children build confidence in their communication abilities.
Supporting Families on the Journey
We recognize that supporting a child with hearing loss is a journey that involves the entire family. Parents, siblings, and extended family members all play a crucial role in the child’s development and well-being. That’s why we offer comprehensive support services that address the needs of the whole family.
From providing access to audiology services and certified deaf educators to connecting families with resources, we are here to support families every step of the way. We also encourage parents to connect with one another, creating a community of support where experiences, advice, and encouragement can be shared. Please consider joining our Parent Association which will be led this year by P1 family parent Andie Moss!
Looking Ahead
As we embark on this new school year, let’s celebrate the incredible resilience and determination of children with hearing loss. Their ability to overcome challenges and achieve their goals is truly inspiring. At Child’s Voice, we are proud to stand beside them, providing the support and resources they need to succeed.
Together, let’s make this school year one of growth, achievement, and inclusion for all children, regardless of their hearing abilities. We look forward to continuing our work with schools, families, and communities to ensure that every child has the opportunity to reach their full potential.
Here’s to a successful and empowering school year ahead!
Best,
Wendy
