Child’s Voice Director of Advancement Honored by Greater Oak Brook Chamber of Commerce
The Greater Oak Brook Chamber of Commerce honored Kate Bousum, CFRE, Child’s Voice Director of Advancement, on March 20, 2018 at their Annual Meeting. Kate received the Under 40 Leadership Award for Nonprofits.
Since 2010, Kate has served on the Advancement Team. This team is responsible for all fundraising, marketing, special event and awareness efforts. Kate manages and cultivates relationships with foundations, family foundations, corporations, individuals and organizations. Funds are raised through grants, annual requests for support, special events and third party events. Kate has also recruited individuals to the Advancement department, building a team of professionals able to meet the very high expectations set each year.
“But it’s more than the technical side of the job description that makes Kate a leader at Child’s Voice,” stated Dr. Michele Wilkins, Child’s Voice Executive Director. “She has been instrumental in finding resources and financial support for our Early Intervention Program, Audiology Center, technology in our classrooms, and reading programs for our students and parents. Her impact can be felt in our programs, with our staff, and most importantly with the children and families we serve. She is a passionate advocate for the children served by our programs. Her interest in building relationships to benefit Child’s Voice is constant and has been a fundamental part of the organization’s growth in awareness.”
Kate has been a fundraising professional for over 16 years, raising support and awareness for organizations such as Elmhurst College and Metropolitan Family Services. She currently serves on the Board of the West Suburban Philanthropic Network, the Education Council for the Association of Fundraising Professionals Chicago Chapter, and is the co-chair for the Young Business Leaders Group in the Greater Oak Brook Chamber of Commerce. Kate is active in her community with the local elementary school, church, and library. She is a graduate of Purdue University.
“Philanthropy is defined as the love of humanity,” stated Kate. “I am incredibly fortunate that my job is to help supporters celebrate their passion and find ways to help others. Child’s Voice is a very special place and joining our cause with the great relationships built through the Chamber has been a wonderful partnership.”
