Students at Child’s Voice cheered on alum Ryne Krueger and his hockey team during their gold medal-earning trip to the Deaflympics, held in December 2019 in Valtellina-Valchiavenna Italy.

The USA team beat Canada on December 21. The Canadian team scored the first goal, but the USA took the lead and never let go, winning 7-3, according to the Daily Moth Deaf News.

Current Child’s Voice students wanted Ryne and his team to know how much support he was getting from back home. The kids sent the team a “Go USA!” video on the day of the gold-medal game.

Ryne was never too busy to represent Child’s Voice, posing with mascot Smiley during his time off the ice.

When he returned home, he visited Child’s Voice with his gold medal, and the students gave him another “Number One!” cheer.
