Through a blend of individualized instruction and academic learning, the PII student is being prepared for their transition to the mainstream.
- Students alternate every 30-40 minutes between their classroom and the Learning Center.
- Speech, language and auditory skills instruction is taught in small groups of 2-3 students.
- Curriculum used includes: Houghton Mifflin “Journeys” Reading Curriculum, Everyday Mathematics, Michael Heggerty’s Phonemic Awareness Program, and Houghton Mifflin’s “We the People.”
- A weekly self-advocacy class is taught by our Mainstream Support Teachers.
- PII students participate in “Book Buddies” once a month at a local kindergarten and 1st grade classes in a public school.
