The VPAA Dance Program at Larkin High School is “Bringing a Book to Life”
Bringing a book to life can be a lot of fun with young children. We are happy to share some news of an upcoming event from our friends at District U46:
The Visual and Performing Arts Academy Dance program at Larkin High School in Elgin proudly announces its annual “Bring a Book to Life” performance!
This year they have selected the book “El Deafo”, a graphic novel written and illustrated by Cece Bell. This book is a loose autobiographical account of Bell’s childhood and living with her deafness. However, the characters in the book are all bunnies! What are bunnies known for? Big ears! Excellent hearing- rendering her choice of characters and their deafness ironic. Cece deals with her feelings by treating her hearing aid as a superpower, as it gives her the ability to hear everything. She adopts the secret nickname “El Deafo”
They will have the following performances.
Friday, February 15th @ 7:00 p.m.
Saturday, February 16th @ 3:00 & 7:00 p.m.
Cost – students/seniors $5.00 Adults $10.00
