Blonde woman in blue t-shirtJulie received a bachelor’s degree in communication sciences and disorders and a certificate in American Sign Language and Deaf studies from the University of Iowa with the goal of becoming a speech-language pathologist. While applying to graduate programs, she worked at Child’s Voice as an aide and substitute teacher, where she fell in love with teaching. In 2018 she was accepted into the Early Intervention in Deaf Education cohort at Fontbonne University in St. Louis, Missouri. She also worked at the Moog Center for Deaf Education in early intervention as their lead toddler room teacher.

She was excited to be welcomed back into the Child’s Voice family in 2021. Julie loves seeing her students genuinely happy at school and believes in the importance of building strong relationships and having fun while learning.

In her free time, she is an avid CrossFit athlete and runner and loves participating in local competitions and races. Recently, she ran a 5k while holding a 7-pound pumpkin. She loves to read and typically alternates between a good, heart-pounding, fiction thriller and non-fiction books.
