Child's Voice Alumni College Road Trip Panel Discussion

Join us at 7 PM Wednesday, August 12 for a College Road Trip With Smiley. This online panel will feature Child’s Voice alumni, including Amy Bussa, Lindsay Behrens, Luke Jareczek, and Josh Singer, teachers Haley Drucker and Mitch Olsen, and Special Services Coordinator Carrie Jackiewicz.

Topics include classroom accommodations for people with hearing loss, self-advocacy skills for college, and repair strategies that can be used in the classroom, during events, and in virtual communications.

Lindsay Behrens

Lindsay graduated from Child’s Voice in 2007. She is a sophomore at Rochester Institute of Technology studying Digital Humanities. At RIT, she is involved in Greek life, the women’s lacrosse team, and the Vis Vi Va Dance Company!

Amy Bussa

Amy graduated from Child’s Voice in 2007 and is a sophomore at Augustana College, majoring in Communication Sciences and Disorders. She is a member of Zeta Phi Kappa Sorority, works in the library on campus, and holds a leadership position in the Politics Club. She enjoys playing sports, spending time with family and friends, reading, and binge watching Netflix.

Haley Drucker

Haley, a Child’s Voice alumnus, recently graduated from Illinois State University with a Bachelor’s in Deaf Education. She is currently working as a Hearing Itinerant Teacher for a school district in Orland Park.

Luke Jareczek

Luke graduated from Child’s Voice in 2007. He is a sophomore at Boston College, majoring in Accounting with a minor in Information Systems. He is working in construction this summer and is excited to return to campus this fall to participate in intramural soccer and basketball.

Carrie Jackiewicz

During her 23 years at Child’s Voice, Carrie has taught in the classroom and spent time following our students in the mainstream. She came to Child’s Voice after receiving her Master’s from Washington University in St. Louis. This year, she will take on a new role as the Special Services Coordinator, ensuring our alumni’s success in the mainstream.

Mitch Olsen

Mitch joined Child’s Voice as a full-time teacher in June 2019. He has a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from Knox College and a Master’s in Deaf Education from Washington University in St. Louis. Mitch was one of the first students to graduate from Child’s Voice, having attended the school from 1996-1999.

Josh Singer
Josh graduated Child’s Voice in 2006. He is heading into his senior year at Illinois State University majoring in Finance. This summer he is interning at Northwestern Mutual as a college financial representative and working alongside senior financial advisors in the office, communicating with clients learning about the insurance/financial field.
