Melissa has been an employee of Child’s Voice since August of 2007. She is a certified Listening and Spoken Language Specialist (LSLS Cert. AVEd) and is a member of the Alexander Graham Bell Association for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (AG Bell). As the Special Services Coordinator, Melissa assists parents in the transition process when a child is ready for mainstream school. This ranges from attending their transition IEP to touring the new mainstream school with the family. Once a child is fully mainstreamed, Melissa provides mainstream support and outreach to the children and their families for five years. She observes the children in their mainstream classrooms and provides detailed feedback and support to both the parents and the child’s new mainstream team. Melissa is also an active member of the Child’s Voice Parent Education and Literacy committees, she facilitates parent-teacher conferences and she supervises staff members when they are working towards becoming a certified listening and Spoken Language Specialist. Melissa inputs all data into the Listening and Spoken Language Data Repository II (LSL-DR2) and to the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE).

Melissa and her husband Tyler currently live in Lake Zurich with their son, Trey, and cat, Axel. In her free time, Melissa prefers to spend time with her family, skiing and surfing behind their new boat, reading, exercising, and catching up on recorded shows.
