Melissa Lundt, M.A., LSLS Cert. AVEd
As the Special Services Coordinator, Melissa works closely with the School Principal and assists her in any way necessary. She also mentors new teachers and meets with all teaching staff on a regular basis to discuss student progress. When a child receives a second cochlear implant, Melissa completes individualized Aural Rehabilitation with them and performs various individual assessments of the children to assist the classroom teachers. An important part of Melissa’s role is assisting parents in the transition process when a child is ready for mainstream school. This ranges from attending their transition IEP to touring the new mainstream school. Once a child is fully mainstreamed, Melissa observes them four times in two years to provide detailed feedback and support to both the parents and the child’s new mainstream team. Melissa is also an active member of the five committees at Child’s Voice and has been an important part of the program since August 2007.
Melissa and her husband Tyler currently live in Lake Zurich with their son, Trey, and cat, Axel. In her free time, Melissa prefers to spend time with her family, reading, exercising, and catching up on recorded shows. Recently, her family bought a boat and enjoy spending their time on Green Lake. She is looking forward to a trip to Hawaii in June 2017 to celebrate her and Tyler’s 10 year anniversary! Melissa is also a member of the Alexander Graham Bell Association for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (AG Bell).
