Kate Bousum, CFRE
As the Director of Advancement, Kate is responsible for the Advancement Team and the goals of raising funds and awareness for the magic that happens at Child’s Voice! This outreach happens through grantwriting, corporate/foundation support, special events, annual appeals for financial support, presentations about Child’s Voice to civic groups, organizations, and associations.  The marketing efforts on social media and the website are also part of Kate and the Advancement Team’s responsibilities.

Kate first heard about Child’s Voice eight years ago through a former colleague and friend that worked for the organization. She quickly fell in love with the mission. Kate enjoys being a part of the Child’s Voice family, both with the staff, and also the incredible students and their families.

Kate attended Purdue University and received her Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) designation in 2017. She has also completed the Civic Leadership Academy through Northern Illinois University with special endorsements in both Nonprofits and Community Development. In 2018, Kate was awarded the Under 40 Leadership Award for Nonprofits by the Greater Oak Brook Chamber of Commerce.

In addition to her work at Child’s Voice, Kate is involved in many professional organizations including the Association of Fundraising Professionals Chicago Chapter (Education Council), West Suburban Philanthropic Network (Secretary and Programs Committee), and the Greater Oak Brook Chamber of Commerce and (co-chair of the Young Business Leaders Group). Kate also volunteers at her local school, church, and library.

She and her husband reside in the western suburbs with their daughter. In her free time, Kate enjoys spending time with family as well as gardening, reading, writing, and cooking/baking.
